Time for this again. The dialog is actually the exact same as last time, since our Wisdom stat is still pitifully low.

Kazuaki

“Thielle!”

Tera

“Yes!”

Kazuaki

“Hmm… I don’t think you did too badly…”

Tera

“Y-yes…?”

Kazuaki

“Not too… mmm… nope, sorry. You did badly.”

Tera

“… nooo…”

Kazuaki

“Try harder next time, okay?”

I disappointed mister Nanaki… I’ll have to study more from now on.

Not on your life.

Time flies!

Sometimes it seemed long and sometimes it seemed short, but either way, it’s summer now! I should help clean up the clubroom and check out the summer schedule before I go home. To the track club!

Okosan looks excited. … not angry for once, but still, this is…

Cause for worry nonetheless.

Tera

“Aaaah! What are you doing!? The floor is covered in beans!”

Okosan

“Munsh munsh!”
(They’re goooood!)

It looks like he’s been stockpiling his nutritional balance supplements and is eating them all at once. He certainly seems happy about it…

Naturally, we can’t condone such outlandish behaviour. But, we’re given the choice to scold him or join in, and we’ve come too far to chicken out now. Let’s eat beans off the floor like a filthy animal.

Those look pretty good!

Okosan

“Munsh munsh!”
(Yum!)

And so we devoured two months’ worth of dietary supplements in one day.

What a way to end the semester. I hope you’re proud of the path you’ve chosen.

A hunter-gatherer’s body is her way of life, so maybe I’ll go running today!

A scenic jog is always nice.

Nice sights out here! Y’know, just the usual, everyday countryside things. Don’t worry about it. We’ll come back to that later in the game. Much later.

A true Running Girl’s way to start vacation!

Tera

“I wonder how far I ran… I always lose track of where I’m going once the runner’s high kicks in. ……”

… where am I? I must have wandered out of my usual stomping ground at some point. Which way did I come from…?

Tera

“Don’t fail me now, paleolithic homing instinct…!”

The sun’s setting. I’d rather not sleep outside…

???

“Hey, you.”

Oh, dear. What sort of horrible strangers could be lurking this far from home?

Tera

”?”

A sparrow stands next to me, squinting up at my face.

Oh, it’s just a bird.

It looks a little bit vintage. How cute! I feel a strange pressure… I can tell right away that this sparrow isn’t just anybirdie.

Our plot senses are tingling!

Tera

“Umm, I’m from St. Pigeonation’s. I was out for a run and got lost.”

???

“You ran all the way from there? You must be good. It’s about a two hour drive from here.”

Tera

“What!?”

I guess that’s why my legs hurt!

All those gym classes are paying off.

Tera

“Aaah… I wonder if I’ll be able to run home again…”

???

“Hmm. I like the cut of your jib. Anyone that determined deserves a ride home.”

The intimidating sparrow gestures at her scooter. It’s a little bit small, but we should both fit… I think…?

This is your reminder to never, ever think about scale in this game too hard. Just don’t do it.

Tera

“Th-thank you! Umm… may I ask your name?”

???

“Koshiba Azami. I sell takoyaki.”

Azami

“Call me Azami.”

Tera

“Then thank you, Azami!”

What a nice bird. I’m just going to get it out of the way now: no, we can’t date her. She doesn’t have a route… in this version of the game. There’s an ending with her in the “deluxe” HD version, but it’s clearly designed as an afterthought and more of a fun throwaway than a real route or anything. Slightly disappointing. Either way, as evening falls, we ride with her back to the city.

Tera

“You’re a very… cautious driver.”

Azami

“Carve it into your soul, kid! One accident is all it would take, and that would be the end of both our lives. It may seem strange to a young girl like you, but… once you’ve lost someone, you’ll understand.”

There is a far-off look in her eyes. I’m sure you know what you’re talking about, but at this rate I might get home faster by walking!

Patience.

Tera

“Do you think we’ll get there by dawn…?”

Azami

“Carve it into your soul! The speed limit for scooters is 30 kilometers per hour!”

Tera

“We’re not even going that fast!”

That’s a bit under 19 miles an hour, for you imperial folks.

Azami

“Following traffic laws is part of my credo!”

Tera

“Isn’t riding tandem against the law, too?”

Azami

“That rules is for humans. Birds are light, so one or two more doesn’t stop the brakes from working. We’re fine like this.”

But… we’re not a bird.

But I’m not a bird…

Look, I just said that.

And so we putted along at Azami’s hyper-cautious speed. By the time we got to my house it was almost light out…

What an eventful day. Still, we got home in the end, and we met a new friend! I think that’s pretty good. We’ll continue our summer adventures some other day. Until next time, everybirdie!
