It’s time for music class again!

H-his voice is beautiful!

Apparently my setup handles Unicode poorly, so.

Tera leveled up! Charisma increased by 5!

A few weeks later, at Tanabata, we find a certain someone’s wish hanging from the bamboo tree.

Roughly, along the lines of “Impossible is not French”. I don’t know, I took like a semester of French and failed. The protagonist wishes to become a famous artist, for a boost in charisma. Before long, another music class has rolled around.

Last time it was the gong…

Tera

“What am I supposed to be, the musical gorilla!?”

Yes, I think that is rather the point. The birds would have a lot of trouble with such large instruments! I’m impressed they play any at all.

Tera leveled up! Charisma increased by 5!

Sometimes it seemed long and sometimes it seemed short, but either way, it’s summer now! I think Sakuya said to help him clean the council room before going home… He always gets angry if I make him wait, so I should hurry!

I came as fast as I could!

Tera

“Sorry, Sakuya. Let’s start cleaning.”

Sakuya

“Very well. First, move the shelf and chairs. There’s dust underneath.”

Tera

“Okay.”

Sakuya

“Next, inside the cupboard. Arrange the files by date.”

Tera

“Okay.”

Sakuya

“And then the floor. Polish it at least three times. And the windo—”

Tera

“Hold on. Are you telling me to do all that by myself?”

Sakuya

“Who else is there?”

You, bonehead!! Maybe I should stand up to him?

We have the option to put Sakuya on blast or simply take it. Just because we like Sakuya doesn’t mean we won’t stand up to him.

Tera

“Sakuya, I’m the vice-president, not the chairwoman.”

Sakuya

“Is that so?”

Tera

“My job is to help you. So maybe you should be taking the lead role in cleaning up?”

Sakuya

“That’s why I’m giving you orders.”

Tera

“No! Geez, that’s not what I… Here’s a mop! Work!”

Sakuya looks quite taken aback, almost lost, as the mop is thrust into his wing.

Sakuya

“I… you… what…!?”

Tera

“You know how to use it, right? Let’s get started.”

Sakuya

“……”

He simply stands there, staring awkwardly at the cleaning implement.

Tera

“Don’t tell me you’ve never…”

Sakuya

“Of course not.”

Talk about living in the lap of luxury.

And so Sakuya reluctantly helped me clean. I’d thought he might complain for a while, but he certainly can be obedient! Now, then… the sooner we finish, the sooner we get to go home!

Perhaps what Sakuya really needs is someone to stand up to him. A few weeks later, we invite him to the summer festival.

Sakuya

“You’ve got nerve, to call me out during vacation. What is it?”

Tera

“Oh, right! You just moved here, so you wouldn’t have known. Today’s the festival! Let’s go together!”

Sakuya

“Festival? What’s that?”

Tera

“You’ll understand when you see it. Come on!”

Sakuya’s look of dismay only grows as the protagonist hauls him off to the assembled stalls.

Tera

“Shops! Food! Good fun all around!”

Sakuya

“People can’t possibly be eating food prepared like this! It’s… It’s unsanitary! It’s madness!”

Tera

“Don’t worry! There haven’t been any reports of food poisoning for two years!”

Sakuya

“So there were reports three years ago!?”

Yup!

The protagonist is a master of taking things in stride.

Guiding the panic-stricken Sakuya around the festival is a little troublesome, but hilarious nonetheless.

And so the night wears on…

Tera

“Huh? When did you buy that candy apple, Sakuya?”

Sakuya

“They had an interesting color, so I thought I would buy one. I’m not going to eat it. I shall take it home and mount it in a case.”

Oh, whatever will we do with you, Sakuya?

Second term has hardly started before we have another music class!

Ryouta

“I don’t think we have any spares…”

Tera

“I-I do have my hichiriki, at least.”

The hichiriki is a kind of traditional Japanese flute. Let no-one say this LP isn’t educational.

Ryouta

“You can play that!?”

Tera leveled up! Charisma increased by 5!

Later that day, a non-elective math class.

Kazuaki

“We’ll start looking at some new formulas next week, so try to read ahead, okay?”

Sakuya

“Hmph. The lassitude of Japan’s educational system never ceases to amaze me.”

Tera

“You don’t like mister Nanaki’s classes, Sakuya?”

Sakuya

“What do you think? And I’m not just talking about the math. Not only is attendance at this school mandatory, but everything it covers is infantile. It bores me to yawning.”

Ryouta

“Hey, at least mister Nanaki won’t chew you out for snoozing in class, right?”

I mean, it would be a little hypocritical.

Tera

“I don’t think that’s the issue here, Ryouta…”

Ryouta

“Look at Okosan! He conked out as soon as we took attendance.”

Okosan

“Coo…”
(Zzz…)

Sakuya

“Exactly! These pathetic teaching practices destroy the students’ motivation and interest. No wonder nobirdie takes school seriously.”

Sakuya sure does have some opinions on the education system.

Tera

“But isn’t mister Nanaki a big name in science? I mean, I’m not really that well informed, but… I don’t think it’s very nice to go around piddling on him, Sakuya.”

Sakuya

“We know his capabilities as a teacher quite well, Thielle. Do you mean to say that we should respect and obey him simply because he is a teacher?”

Honestly, Sakuya is the last person I’d expect to hear questioning authority. Maybe he has a point, though.

Sakuya

“His fame is merely on the national level, anyway. The only world-renowned professor here would be doctor Iwamine.”

Tera

“Eh!? The doctor is that well-known!?”

Ryouta

“I never heard about that.”

Okosan

“Coooooo…!”
_(It is Okosan’s pudding…! … zzz…)

Thanks for the contribution, Okosan.

Sakuya

“I am surrounded by ignoramuses and fools…! He is a world authority on pathology. His name is known the world over. Anyway, Nanaki does not even come close.”

I never knew the doctor was that famous… But then, why’s he working as the doctor for a highschool? Even if it is a prestigious one.

Once again, we know something the protagonist does not. Still, the mystery only deepens.

Isn’t 2-4 doing a haunted house? I’m well known for my reckless nature, so maybe I’ll go and scream a little bit. I think… Sakuya’s free today, too, isn’t he? Maybe I should invite him along?

The game presents us a choice, but there’s no choice, really. We’re bringing fancyfeathers with us.

Tera

“Sakuya!”

Tera

“You’re free today, right? Want to go look at 2-4’s haunted house?”

Sakuya

“Haunted house? A waste of time. Nothing but a foolish charade of commoners, by commoners, and for commoners.”

Tera

“How do you know if you don’t go? And besides, isn’t keeping an eye on the masses part of a noblebird’s job?”

Sakuya

“Erp. … I suppose it might have some value. Since I have no other pressing matters to which I must attend, I shall accompany you.”

We lead the reticent Sakuya down to the house of spooks.

Sakuya

“What is this madness?”

Tera

“A haunted mansion!”

Sakuya

“What on earth is that? Will we be attacked by hostile ninjas?”

Tera

“Nooo! That would be a ninja mansion.”

That sounds like a lot more fun, honestly.

Sakuya

“… but my nurse told me that any mansion is bound to have ninjas lying in wait inside.”

I mean, better to be safe.

Tera

“It’s like a tiny theme park! With a ghost theme! Hence ‘haunted’!”

Sakuya

“How foolish. No doubt it has nothing but tricks to scare mere children. We shall enter.”

Tera

“Oh! Hey, wait!”

The protagonist hurries to catch up as Sakuya saunters into the darkness.

Sakuya

“I-I can’t see! Why is it dark in here!?”

Tera

“Oh, right… you can’t see in the dark, can you?”

Pigeons have notably poor night vision.

Sakuya

“Aaaaagh! I-I stepped on something nasty!”

Sakuya stumbles around in the dark, flailing and helpless.

Sakuya

“N-no! Stop! Unhand me! Aaaagh! AAAAIIIEEEEEEEEE!”

Tera

“Sakuya, calm down! Noooo! You’re not supposed to kick the poor ghosts!”

Sakuya

“Let me gooooooooo!”

Kicking and screaming, Sakuya and the protagonist emerge back into the light.

Sakuya

“-pant-… -pant-…”

… I’ve never seen him this worked up before. Anyway, I’m glad he enjoyed it… … I think?

I guess that’s one way to put it! Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed this update… if you did. Before long at all, we’ll have this route finished up. Until next time, everybirdie!
